Calculating How Much Pizza You Need for a Pizza Party
Thursday, September 29, 2016
Pizza is a popular food choice all year, for all kinds of parties, but there’s definitely one time of year and one group of people who put all other pizza lovers to shame: fall and kids!
This time of year kids of all ages are getting back into the game with fall sports and there’s really no better way to celebrate a win or feel better about a loss than to gather the team for a pizza party. Whether your kids are playing soccer or football, track or volleyball, after a big game, traveling for a tournament, or to celebrate the end of the season, show your support for their dedication and hard work with a pizza party.
When it comes time to calculate how much pizza to order, there are a few factors to consider:
1. Number of kids and adults
Start by finding out how many kids will be able to make it to the party. Or, to play it safe, imagine that everyone will be able to make it, just in case someone who says they won’t be able to come has a change of plans and then shows up. Now add in coaches, parents, and volunteers who will most likely come to the party. With your final tally, consider the next point:
2. Age of the kids
Are you throwing this pizza party for a high school football team or a kindergarten kick-and-chase soccer team? High school kids can put huge amounts of pizza away, so you should figure at least 3 slices per kid (4 if you know they’re big eaters). The youngest athletes will probably only need 1 – 2 slices each and adults can reasonably fit in that same category. The trickiest age group to figure might be middle school, since their appetites vary from one day to the next. Play it safe and figure 2 – 3 slices per person. If you have leftovers you can send them home with the kids.
3. Timing of the party
Are you planning this party immediately after a game or during the dinner hour? Anyone will eat more when they’re hungry, so if you’re feeding them when they’re likely to be ravenous, plan on ordering extra. If your pizza party will be during a time when the kids are more likely to snack than chow down, to ahead and order a little less.
4. Taste preferences
Not everyone likes a meat lover’s pizza, and while you’re safe with a dozen cheese pizzas, that is a little boring. Instead, order a variety of types of pizza so that everyone, from strict carnivores to foodie vegetarians can find something they love to eat.
Another great way to ensure that everyone has something on their plate that they’re excited about is to order other types of food in addition to pizza. Add appetizers, salads, and pasta to your order and you can be sure to get the trophy for best team party ever.
You’ll never have a disappointed team when you come to Pizza Tower. Our pizza is always the best choice for a great party, no matter what sport your little athletes excel at. Give us a call today and order a pie (or a dozen)—you’ll be glad you did!
